Cardiff Arcades from a totally different perspective…

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of borrowing a Nikon D4 and an 8mm fisheye lens.

What better subject for such a combination than the beautiful arcade architecture?

I set off to capture all the beauty of the wonderful arcades from a different perspective than we’re used to seeing, so hopefully these images will provide you with some unique visuals to gaze at.

I find it hard to pick a favourite arcade, but I have to say that the roof of the Morgan Arcade looks particularly stunning from this ultra-ultra wide-angle.

Regular readers may remember the ultra wide-angle shots I posted before – to give some perspective, they were shot an equivalent focal length of 14mm – whereas these are almost half that again at 8mm.

As such, the roofs appear to curve, buildings seem to lean over and you get a heck of a lot in one view.

I hope you enjoy these pictures – and as always, any comments, thoughts and feedback are most welcome in the box below.
